Use this blog to help our partner classes learn more about your life.
After having our first video chat, what questions or comments do you still have? Share them here.
Tell about a specific time when someone unfairly labeled you (perhaps because of something you wore? your race? background? religion?). How did this impact you? What do you want people to know so this won't happen to anyone again?
What was your biggest "take-away" that you heard from a student during the teleconference? Something that opened your eyes, made a great point, or something that you strongly agreed or disagreed with?
We learned how our brains naturally categorize people because stereotyping others is painless and is a thinking shortcut. Describe one stereotype of others you have been guilty of thinking or using -- and then describe some specific things you can do to fight unfairly judging people yourself.
Explain how the teleconference either helped you BREAK a stereotype or UNDERSTAND it as simply a cultural tradition/norm?
