I'm from rolling hills and cow manure.

I'm from snow piles to snowmen, snow balls to frost bite.

I'm from green grass and brown dirt.

I'm from 5 bodies of water, from small towns to snow plows.

I'm from small schools, small children, and small common sense.

I'm from dirty streets and not always something to eat, homeless people roaming the city streets.

I'm from playgrounds and football games, hollers and hoots.

I'm from small town Michigan, from family dinners and harsh cold winters.

I'm from small town Michigan, and I wear frostbite with pride.

I am from not so great memories, ½ of my family hating me to some good memories, the other ½ of my family loving me.

I am from Frog and Toad Together to Twilight and Tide of War.

I am from country music, Tim Mcgraw to Miranda Lambert to Maddie and Tae.

I am from being stuck inside to being able to hang out with my animals.

I am from moving every year to staying in one place and that one place is here.

I’m from the crib of nations, a world of speculations. The peace-time in war-time, the sight in the blind of the mind time.

I’m from the work hard and get dirty, the high-risk, high-reward opportunity. The helping hand in a time of need, the soul not lost in greed.

I’m from the skillet with bacon and beef, the pantry with the cake of relief. The building block of flour to the sweetening patch of sour.

I’m from the family gathering, the fun we’re having. The making of memories between friends and families. The glow of a candle in darkness, the sweetness in a person’s heartiness.

Where I Am From
By: Will Duin
I’m from a little college town in the south known for rolling trees at night and Alabama rivalries.
I’m from a childhood of spending time with friends and doing stupid stuff like throwing rocks at each other and playing dodge ball with base ball’s.
I’m from a tall family that towers over all of our friends except for my grandma who’s only “5’4” while I am the youngest in my family and I’m “6’1”.
I’m from spending every Easter and Christmas at my grandparents and going to my cousin’s lake house every 4th of July and we go play soccer and shoot roman candles at each other. So this is my life and if you don’t like that is your problem not mine.

I’m From
I’m from the suburbs next to the city,
Where there buses, skyscrapers, and the Reds

I’m from the neighborhood of exploring, and airsoft

I’m from the cozy home with video games, and Star Wars
The comfort of watching the game with family and friends, and the joy of the outside

I’m from the cold winters, and hot summers

From the happy, sad, love, and hate
From the waking up early on Sundays, and getting dressy

I come from the snow covered ground and icy streets.
I come from watching cartoons,
Phineas and Ferb, Adventure time, Gravity Falls
From reading Curious George and Peter Rabbit.
To the hours of playing Pokemon trying to beat the elite four.

I come from the long hours of Playing Violin,
from the many, many chores I do,
to the toys I throw for my dog and playing with Friends
I come from skiing down winter hills
and drinking hot cocoa with extra whip cream.

I come from the color changing leaves in Autumn
to the leaf piles you jump into
I come from the Red Wings game and the snow days
From the rain to the sleet to the hail to the snow.
I come from the snowball fights that i play every year.

I come from the Taiwanese food I eat, and the restaurant that my dad owns
I come from a house of music and some classic that I refuse to listen too
Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi and many more...
From the time on the computer, reading manga and watching the episodes I missed
To the bands I dance to when I’m alone
Twenty-one Pilots, FOB, P!ATD, Imagine Dragons

I am from bright blue skies and dark green grass. When droplets of water drips from the grass that was created in the cool, dark, morning.

I am from Freezing winter days. That have snow lay softly every where and sparkly’s from the second the sun rises. With icicles hanging from the shutters of every house. Only to have winter melt into spring and spring fly into summer.

I am from waiting in the woods, for the perfect deer to come just for me to shoot. And getting to make food with the delicious deer.

I am from two pigtails with bright colored bows in them.
An Ice cream in my hand and most of the ice cream on my face, shirt, and hands. With barely any in my mouth.

I am from books in my hand that takes me many hours to read. With play practice every night, while still getting my homework done just before I go to sleep

I am from being the shortest one in the class. Having 6th graders taller then me. When I’m still being mistaken for a 5th grader. But still loving being this short.

I am from a place
I am from a place where summertimes consist of swimming, country music, and sunburns.
I am from a place that consists of the saying “everything happens for a reason.”
I am from a place where Sunday mornings come early, where family time is spent at church.
I am from a place where Muppets, Barbies, and playing on the playset speak to me.
I am from a place of riding bikes, longboards, and scooters rather than walking.
I am from a family that loves me unconditionally.
I am from nighttime prayers and A strong relationship with God.
I am shaped by what has occurred in my life.
I am shaped from my beloved dog Sarge, who I miss more than anything, who has taught me to love people unconditionally and keep on fighting when times get rough.
I am from endless laughs, and enlarged smiles.
I am from caring about others and encouragement.
I am from a place where laughs hurt so bad I can't breath and cries hurt so bad I miss being me.
I am from a sister who has encouraged me from day one, to be true to who I am, and to believe in myself and others around me.
I am from a mom who is a very faithful woman, stands up for what she believes in, and has taught me so much I wish I could just be half the person she is.
I am from a dad who gives me laughter constantly, who can cheer me up in a second, and teaches me about my Lord.
I am from Christmas countdowns, and watching Christmas Vacation as a family.
I am from cheery Spring mornings, and what seem to be endless winters.
I am from feet of snow, playing in snow pants.
I am from playing scary old grandma in the basement, The Brooke and Kelsey list, and spending time with friends.
I am from a place where can’t is not an answer.
I am from a place where I get encouraged, and loved unconditionally
I am from playing with Play Doh, and silly dance parties.
I am from backgrounds of Swedish and German.
I am a Christian.
I am a friend.
I am laughter.
I am a daughter.
I am a sister.
I am a granddaughter.
I am Brooke Nicole Hinz.

I am from the mitten state,

I am from where you and your friends are free,
So you play star wars and hide and go seek.

I am from lakes,

I am from 4th of July with a boom
With Colorful colors flying

And when it's time to come in from swimming
I am from where when this happens, you start crying.

Where I’m From

I come from the land of the hand the land of cities and car factories the land of large cities. not the land of long grassy plains or the likes of some animals. I come from the land of winters giving me 20 degrees or less from the land of snow capped trees the land of snow days with 3 feet of snow.

I come from the land of instead of in winter flying a kite I am shoveling snow the land of 4 seasons not an eternal summer. I come from the land of dense forests with large evergreen trees and piles of leaves red leaves brown leaves and yellow. the land of office buildings and whitewashed tile floors and all of the likes of an office building.

I’m from the land of peninsulas and and lakes superior and michigan and from the land of people singing stupid songs when I am trying to focus I am not from the land of ranches and where 3 generations all live under the same roof.

In conclusion I am from the land of many things and not from the land of many more!

I’m from the crickets on summer nights, running, playing tag, and hanging out with family and friends.

I’m from happy family get togethers, sparklers and fireworks on the Fourth of July, and movie nights during Christmas break.

I’m from frosty snow days, big cups of hot cocoa and warm winter jackets and skiing, even on the coldest days of the year.

I’m from long family vacations, far away from home, with waterfalls and oceans accompanied by colorful sunsets burning in the sky.

I’m from shopping malls and skinny jeans, straight hair and comfy sweaters in the cold winter days.

I’m from a world of laughter, even in the hardest of days.

Where I’m From Poem

I’m from a glowing green forest,
filled with dazzling light,
and crystal-clear streams flowing by,
the chattering of animals,
permeating the silence of the trees.

I’m from four-foot deep snows,
shoveling the neighbors’ drives
to make a little money,
sledding down our hill
in the night with my family,
with Snow Days! always on my mind.

I was born into a crazy
and rambunctious family,
but what can I say?
I love them all.
They are loving and caring,
and take no heed of themselves.

I am shaped by my
Catholic beliefs
raised and born
in the Church of millions,
created by Jesus himself.

I’m from the era of
Drake and Josh,
Spongebob Squarepants,
Scooby Doo,
Tom and Jerry,
and the Magic School Bus.

I'm from a 14 foot, Sea Nymph boat,
fishing with my dad,
catching a green,
slippery,
scale-covered,
teeth-baring,
pike.

I'm from sitting in the sun,
relaxing by the lake,
diving in and splashing around
in the 80 degree heat.

I'm shaped by my education,
and all the experience I've had
through the years,
striving to succeed
in my life
and going to church
on the Sunday nights.

I'm from the years of playing
Legos,
ping pong,
Pokemon,
hot wheels
and Nerf guns battles
that stretched for hours a day.

I’m from celebrating
Christmas every year,
with red and green lights,
candy canes,
artificial trees,
huge family gatherings,
opening presents by the fire,
enjoying a feast and
making memories
to last a lifetime.

I am from a world of family and fun,
mischief and trouble,
responsibility and hard work.
I imagine.
I hope.
I dream.
I believe.

I’m From Home
I’m from wooden swing sets spent hours on, hiding under the counter pretending to be a spy, and sleeping in my parents’ bedroom all of the time.

I’m from telling my newborn brother that I was going to be his sister and love him forever, never sleeping in fear of missing out on something, and playing on Menard’s swing sets while my parents were shopping.

I’m from exploring the white shores of Destin, experiencing brain freeze in Nashville, and meeting a very cheery mouse in Orlando.

I’m from never putting down Nintendo Dsi’s, having deep conversations with imaginary friends, and wading in Lake Michigan with my family.

I’m from Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Judy Moody, and begging Daddy to read one more Disney story book.

I’m from jamming to the Dixie Chicks with Mama, memorizing Taylor Swift lyrics, and spitting into my harmonica to do what I call “freestyle”.

I’m from Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, iCarly, Pocahontas, Finding Nemo, and of course, The Wizard of Oz.

I’m from staying up all night to hear the precious sound of reindeer’s hooves on the rooftop, lying under the Christmas tree spying on everyone, and shaking Mama and Daddy awake to open presents.

I’m from pulling on snow pants to throw myself into the tall banks of snow, building snowmen with my family, and Daddy and I jumping a snow ramp on the snowmobile.

I’m from big to little, good times and bad times, crowded and alone, sunshine and snowstorms, but most importantly,
I’m
From
Home.

I am from spending my days watching horses in the fields, grooming horses at the barn, and playing with Gypsy and Woody.

I am from playing with my friends; pretending to be horses and wolves, and playing doctor with my friends.

I am from chasing my cats around outside to having a guinea pig play date with my friend.

I am from being the weird horse girl who can just watch horses for hours and not get bored.

I am from going on vacations to Arizona, New Jersey, Montana, Colorado, Canada, Florida, and Tennessee.

I am from spending a week in the summer watching horse shows all day in the hot sun rather than with my friends.

I am from Michigan.
I am me.

Auburn, full of traditions, we roll the tree when Auburn wins
College town, pretty packed and loud, South and Sweet Tea.
Weather is amazing, bright and sunny, makes you feel good.

Food makes you full but you want to eat more, it is mostly healthy
Toomer's Lemonade has amazing lemonade,
Drink on a hot day to cool you off while watching a football game

People are thoughtful but full of loudness
Alabama fans are loud and snotty people
The Toomers Tree gets rolled everytime that we win a game

100 Year Oak Tree poisoned and killed (Alabama Fan)
Crazy Saturdays and boring Sundays
Clean up the tailgate and wait till the next football game
Amazing football and a small but wonderful town.

And from old traditions like Toomers.
I’m from tailgating all day
And the Kick Six.

I’m from the cold mornings in the tree stand
And from checking in late to school because I was hunting.
I’m from fishing trips with my grandpa
And travel baseball tournaments in the summer.

And Christmas morning deer hunts.

Where I’m from poem
I’m from quiet and fighting kids, from be home before the street lights come on, from don’t play in your church clothes, I’m from sneaking to hear the grownups talk, from switches and cords, I’m from the bad boys with the nice clothes.
From climbing the trees with the Easter dress on, I’m from the girls who always play any game with the boys, from favorite color to be blue; I’m from drinking Clorox eating pills and getting my stomach pumped on my fifth birthday, from duck duck goose, ring around the rosy, hide n seek, and mommy.
