I think we shouldn't let people get in our heads.Let stereotypes say what they want to say.
I think what happens is that a public image is created, then the wrong people get a hold of that image, then it is spread.
When we stereotype someone else, WE dont feel the harm we often feel the payoff. Also our brain categorizes things and people because of its convenient.
Some forces that help create stereotypes is reality t.v shows. They take a person and start to make something up about them and when people watch that show they see the person and think what there doing that the whole culture or race does it.
The way that stereo types begin is when people define the word beauty. It's not just Disney movies the create the stereotype but it's everything. Popular stores have models that literally look like if they starve themselves to get the way they are. We tell ourselves to get like that which leads to eating disorders or for example when your younger and making new friends, you only want to be friends with some one who is "pretty" or "perfect" but what people don't realize is that god didn't create us to be perfect, he created us to be different and it's okay to have flaws and imperfections.
I agree with Nancy. The way tv shows, movies and magazines define the word beauty is where stereotypes begin. Disney princesses and other disney characters don't look is what people believe that they have to look, and if they don't people don't consider them pretty. When people don't feel like they are societies definition of pretty that could lead to eating disorders.
I think that we create stereotypes by watching way to much reality T.V. Because the actors on the T.V make fun of some people or stereotype one person so much that we think its funny. Well if you think about it, it can hurt the person. Also I think we should put ourselves in these peoples shoes when they are stereotyped.
Stereotyping is just many of the ways of bullying and is can be caused by Disney movies. As like Tangled all of the princess have to be skinny or slim or pretty. Which means that little girls will choose to pick pretty people as friends. Many little kids think pretty is good and look for only pretty and not their true heart.
I don't think Disney movies really reflect on who girls choose as friends but I understand what you're saying. I think that stereotyping isn't a problem in young kids because they don't generally judge people but kids our age do.
I think that the lack of understanding or knowledge about a person of group of people majorly contributes to stereotyping. If you don't know much about someone then its really easy to stereotype them. But then again sometimes its the other way around if you know that someone does something or lives a certain way then you tend to group them with other people like them.
I think people make stereotypes to be funny
I think that some of them are made to be funny, but some people make them because that is what they believe.
don't listen to stereotypes
I believe stereotypes start from movies and reality t.v shows.
Stereotypes are very mean and we shall all come as one.
social media and tv. create stereotypes
Most of the stereotypes are negative and should not be spread. If you dont start them then nothing bad will be held against you and no one will be mad at you.
I think that no one should care what anyone says about them. But, I know that can be hard sometimes.
I totally agree
stereotypes are created because we are all human. they are made because of jealousy and ignorance, and not wanting to get to know someone
When i think of stereotyping, i think of magazines and TV. People put an image of somebody on TV or in a magazine, and they immediately think something negative of that person. In my opinion, its like the quote, 'you should never judge a book by its cover.'
I think that movies and stuff create stereotypes. Also people should not tell others there stereotypical beliefs.
A lot of stereotypes come from media and TV shows. For example the shows Duck Dynasty and American Hoggers.
I believe that stereotypes are just simply habits our minds. We all conjure up thoughts about stereotypes from our past experiences, things on television and the news.
I think that we should not care about what stereotypes say because if you let them get in your head they have already won
I think that stereotypes happen when people think of someone in a certain way.
I think peoples lack of knowledge about other races causes them to form stereotypes
Stupid TV shows, (Duck Dynasty, Backyard oil)
Social media (Especially Facebook statuses)
One person who lives like the stereotypical person from that region.
we need to end this
I think its cool that are brains automatically put people in a category without even thinking. You might not even know the person yet you do it anyways.
I think stereotypes don't necessarily only come from TV shows it can come from anywhere including what you grow up with and who you're around. Stereotypes come from what others say and you think if its okay to repeat it.
